Wild Plum Branches Vase
Wild plums blooming in early spring beautifully soften the harsh winter landscape. My explorations into carving on clay began with line drawings, which led me on to explore relief carving.
This piece is one of very few that I did this way, with knife drawing that was filled lightly with glaze. The sculptural nature of things enticed me forward through many years of exploration, even now.
3.6 x 9.7 Dia x Ht inches

(Reduction fired to cone 10 in an early Minnesota Flat Top kiln built by Nils Lou and myself in 1976.)
